柳月の三方六: Ryugetsu Sanpo-roku

Sanpo-roku is a baumkuchen produced by Ryugetu, a confectionery manufacturer based in Obihiro. Coated with milk and white chocolate, the confection popular over 40 years represents a white birch tree, one of the symbols of Hokkaido. The ingredients – flour, butter, sugar and eggs – are all produced in Hokkaido. You can purchase Sanpo-roku at airports, stations and supermarkets in Hokkaido.

北菓楼の夢ぷくぷ: Kitakaro Yume Puku Puku

Kirakaro is another famous confectionery in Hokkaido, offering a wide range of sweets and snacks, including cream puffs and rice crackers. Yume Puku Puku is a bite-size steamed bun stuffed with plenty of sweet bean paste, made from locally-produced sticky rice flour and adzuki beans. You can find it only at Shin Chitose Airport.

キャラメルキッチンの生キャラメル: Caramel Kitchen Creamy Caramel Candy

It is produced by one of the leading Japanese confectionery companies, fresh from its kitchen every day, available only at the special store at Shin Chitose Airport. Using locally-produced fresh milk and butter, the specialty candies are made according to the company’s special recipe. Its caramel biscuits are also a popular souvenir.

北海道牛乳カステ: Hokkaido Milk Castella

Hokkaido Milk Castella is produced by the internationally-renowned pastry chef, Hironobu Tsujiguchi, and is available only at Shin Chitose Airport. The airy, soft cake, made with fresh milk and other ingredients from Hokkaido, is so popular that some customers visit the airport just to buy this specialty. The store has an eat-in section where you can have the cake fresh from the oven.
